Specialization in Jurisprudence – Fatwa Studies (Hanafi and Shafi)

Specialization in either of the two more popular schools of jurisprudence (Hanafi and Shafi) is available. The course involves intense readings of classical fiqh manuals along with exercises and discussions on formulation of fiqh responses to modern problems. The aims is produce specialists of Islamic jurisprudence who can cater to the religious needs of the people and also help the courts of the country in an advisory capacity.

Features and Objectives

The course involves intensive studies in Islamic law. This involves various fiqh exercises, additional and supporting courses and in-depth study of fiqh problems. The objective is to produce experts in Islamic law who are able to solve the various practicial problems concerning implementation of fiqh faced by people in various fields. The graduates may also get involved in helping the government in all areas of Islamic law being implemented in Pakistani law.

Specialization in Jurisprudence (Fiqh ul Halal)

This department seeks fulfil the need and demand of consumers for vetting food and other products for being halal.the aim is the develop a system whereby Binoria can work with registered government institutions and authorities to issue halal certifications for all consumer products.  With the increase of imports of all kinds of food and other products. The need for such vetting and halal certification has been greatly felt and Binoria seeks to fulfil this demand through cooperation with the government and other institutions.

Specialization in Fiqh al-Malia (Islamic Commercial Law)

With increase in trade, people have regularly had recourse to Jamia Binoria to seek guidance concerning commercial transactions. Even with commonplace business transactions, people are increasingly turning to madrasahs for rulings as per fiqh. The specialization course in Islamic commercial law at Binoria seeks to address this need, giving guidance on transactions that can be rectified and presenting alternate shariah-compliant modes in others cases. The aim is to produce specialists in commercial law who can give rulings on commercial matters and also increase awareness concerning principles of Islamic law among the public through seminars and dialogues with other private and government entities.

Al-Iman Shariah Consultancy

Keeping the above in view, the al-Iman Shariah Consultancy was established which works under the supervision of both muftis and experts from the business community. Research is conducted and rulings provided for newer business problems. The consultancy caters to HR, marketing, risk management, takaful, mudaraba, mutual funds and problems arising in different trade categories. The consultancy keeps in close contact with the business community to better understand modern commercial issues.

Specialization in Fiqh for Women

A special one-year long course was established in 2021 for women graduates who complete the aalima course offered at Binoria. The course seeks to fulfil the needs of women who may feel hesitant discussing personal fiqh issues with male muftis. Entrance to the course is very selective, limited to women graduates who have also had a modern education. The specially designed syllabus includes exercises and training of giving rulings (ifta) as well as additional courses such as the Islamic law of inheritance on the focus of Muslim personal law.

The Faculty of Hadith and its Science

The two-year course aims to provide scholars with a comprehensive understanding of the sciences and arts of Hadith. The course covers a range of topics such as the study of Hadith, mastery of names of men, correct interpretation of Hadith, memorization of selected Hadith, and other important subjects. The course duration is two years, during which the first year focuses on teaching the principles and art of Hadith, practical practice of Takhrej Hadith, knowledge of the names and books of men, and other important topics. In the second year, students are required to write research articles.

Specialization in Arabic Literature

The course was established in 2014 to overcome the perceived short-coming of students in Arabic. The focus is on mastering spoken and written Arabic as well as developing in-depth knowledge of Arabic literature. Dissertation has to be written in Arabic to obtain the diploma. Many students have graduated to date who have gone on to teach in such prestigious institutions as the Jamia Karachi and others throughout the country. The aim is to improve the linguistic skills of students and graduates studying and working throughout the country.

Specialization in Tafseer

Quranic studies have come into sharp focus both locally and internationally and constitute an academic challenge in the modern world. Feeling the need for a focus on the said discipline, this specialization course was launched in 2016 at Binoria. Graduates of madaris are admitted and they are given in-depth knowledge of both traditional and modern body of tafseer literature. Renowned scholars of the country take part in the lectures and other courses in the syllabus which involve delving into a detailed study of the Quran and the different methods of teaching.

Mass Communication Department

A course in journalism has been introduced in JBA to better equip religious scholars to deal with issues of modern media. Graduates are better able to handle and understand the techniques of print and electronic media.

Faculty of Education and Training

This is more all-around one-year course for teachers that focuses on writing, verbal expression, methods of research, and media so as to polish the teaching skills of madrasah graduates. It also involves a specially designed syllabus of reading and special methods of teaching the Quran and hadith. The aim is to produce graduates better able to avail of the facilities and express themselves better through modern media. The objective is to impart skills to scholars to bring them closer to the society which relies on them for spiritual guidance.
This program comprises three semesters. The syllabus of this program includes five compulsory subjects (Arabic Literature, Arabic and Rules, Al-Qur’an Studies, Hadith Studies, Jurisprudence, Prophet’s Biography, and Islamic History and Etiquette) and five professional subjects (Critical Thinking, Communication and Learning Skills, Teaching Methods, Research Method and Report Writing). , assessment, evaluation, and educational psychology (and includes a research project. Professional instructors teach students how to teach compulsory subjects and then evaluate their teaching in practice through a variety of assessment methods.

Binoria School of Linguistics

Courses for fourteen languages are being offered at JBA under this program. There are plans in place to add further languages. Languages currently being taught are Arabic, English, French, German, Turkish, Malay, Indonesian, Cambodian, Thai, Chinese, Tamil, Persian, African, and Swahili.

Features and Objectives:

Course instructors are native language speakers and assistance is sought from foreign students for speaking practice. Students taking up a language are given special guidance concerning relevant countries and regions. Acquisition of foreign language skills presents ample opportunities for translating for and representing foreign delegations and graduates have increased opportunities to be part of foreign projects. The courses also help graduates when they attend international seminar, conferences, and other events such as being involved in industrial projects which involves foreign personnel.

Faculty of Usul al-Din

This is a four-year short certificate course designed for students who have graduated from any institution registered with the Higher Education Commission. The syllabus includes basic Arabic grammar, Arabic literature, fiqh, usul al-fiqh, hadith, usul al-hadith, tafseer, usul al-tafseer, logic, astronomy, inheritance, seerah, history, and other subjects. Improvements both in terms of syllabus and instruction as well as administration for this course is one of the priorities of JBA.

Features and Objectives:

The course seeks to attract and train students who have already had a modern school education. The aim is to provide private and government institutions with individuals who are steeped in Islamic learning and can thus propagate the faith in institutions as well as among the general public.

Special features include weekly and monthly lectures of reputed Muslim scholars, modern curriculum, teaching methods, hostel accommodation, and monthly stipend along with number of other facilities.
